A private beach retreat on Carskiey Bay, Kintyre

Shore Cottage occupies a stunning location on the beach at Carskiey Bay. It is a wonderful, sought after retreat with access via private road or boat, where the first thing you hear in the morning is the sound of the waves and the first thing you see is the beach and sea.

The 1710 sq ft., single story cottage evokes the feeling of a modern day, old sea captain’s cottage, sleeps up to four and comprises of: entrance hall, 16ft x 25ft living area with open fireplace, and dining area, kitchen, two large bedrooms with the best London bespoke beds (arranged as doubles or singles) dressing area and ensuite bathrooms that house roomy baths and walk-in and out showers.

There are magnificent sea views from every room of Shore Cottage, with Sanda Island just three miles away, designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest and Ailsa Craig, one of only two sources in the world for curling stones. Sitting on the bench outside the Cottage, watching the biodiversity of sea birds is truly breathtaking.

The original cottage exterior walls remain, forming the centre and heart of the cottage. The two, ensuite bedrooms being extensions at either end. There is air source, underfloor heating throughout.

The interior design is a mix of old and new. Old includes the old servant’s dining room dresser from the big house which has been painted oxblood red gloss and a drift wood bench that had been lying for years in nearby Garvault Bay. New includes Fermoie fabrics, which have been used throughout the cottage: linen for headboards, curtains, cushions, sofas and chairs whilst the lampshades and bathroom blinds are cotton. The spacious kitchen features a large range, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing and drying machines. There is a barbecue in the garden and jetty leading from the cottage.

Shore Cottage is a get-a-way-from-it-all, shore-side cottage with exceptional privacy and outstanding views and comfort. Ideal as a base for artists, writers, photographers, lovers of nature and those who just want a break from the hectic pace of life.
